Belonging, Safety, and the Body: Reclaiming Authenticity

Gay men often find themselves in a double bind of performance: society at large asks them to behave in one way while gay culture can ask something else of them. They find themselves code-switching, trying on new identities in every social space, never quite feeling like they belong.

The questions linger: Who am I below other’s expectations? How I can feel like I belong?

In this episode we unpack how shame and fear of rejection can keep us stuck in a cycle of performance - and how that leaves us feeling like the true us is never seen. We explore somatic strategies to come back into our truth, and discuss what it means to find real belonging.
